Two friends of ours have recently had baby girls. Both in Quebec (thus needing a bi-lingual name), too. I just love the names I've seen coming up!!
Our first friends from church to have a baby girl, other than us, named her Audrey Erna. Ahhh, I'm such a sucker for old lady names, though Audrey isn't exclusivly known as being from our grandparents (though it's definitely got some history), Erna is just classic. Pure heritage name, and I LOVE IT! If only I could get Brad on board such such things...
Then we just heard the news that our friends Chuck and Sarah had a baby girl and named her Lucie Jane. Melt.My.Heart. LUCIE!?!?!? J'adore. Both classic, historical, even heritage type names. I can picture a grandma with either name, yet also a baby... Maybe because these type of names are more in these days? Either way, two beautiful choices that I just love.
Now if only I could get Brad on board for my classic, heritage name of choice: Beatrice! He says it's not happening any time soon :(

I'm on board with Brad on this one. Although I love Audrey as well as Lucie Jane (Jane is my paternal grandmother's name).
ReplyDeleteNot so much a fan of Beatrice.
In my dreams I'd name our next girl Beatrice, but we'd always call her Bea or B...
ReplyDeleteThat's what double middle names are for! ;)
ReplyDeletedoes this mean you know you are having a girl?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE BEATRICE! Comeon Brad! I am all for the old gramma names. I already have a couple stored up for when I have my own petite bebe's! :D
ReplyDeleteI suggested Lucie to Willy before sarah & chuck had theirs, but he nixed that one bc he had a dog named that haha. triste. oh well, we should probably get married before we pick the names of our children, right?
ReplyDeletewhat about Bernice?
ReplyDeleteDon't like bernice because it reminds me of Bernie... weekend at Bernies... yikes.
ReplyDeleteNo it doesn't mean we're having a girl :) I don't know the sex yet, still waiting for an appointment down here, but you should know by now I'll DEFINITELY post the news and share it with everyone. I'm not patient enough to wait or keep it a secret ;)
Girl names are simply our struggle because we already have our boy name from when we didn't know if Lily would be a boy or a girl. So we just "carried it over" to this baby! We actually already have a boy name for our next TWO boys if we have them. For some reason they come easier to us and are easier to agree on.
I love Beatrice...you can call her Bea for short. Also reminds me of Beatrix Potter! :)
ReplyDeleteDaniel and I love old-fashioned names as well. We have our first boy and first girl names picked already..haha! Both of them are old-fashioned. Would you do another flower? Like Daisy, Rose, Poppy, or Violet? In my family, it's a tradition to name your daughter after a flower. My mother is Rose and Grandmother is Daisy.

Definetly not another flower... We don't actually love glower names per se, Lily just had significance because it was my nickname given to me by my late grandpa. "Emily Lily" he'd call me :)
ReplyDeleteLilys middle name is Catherine after my mom, do if we have another girl well probably choose Brads moms name for the middle name, which happens to also be Rose :)
Good middle name :) It's my middle name, and will be my first daughter's middle name as well
ReplyDelete--Brianna
Morgan, PLEASE name your daughter Beatice on day! Shell be my favourite non-child ;-)
